It has been said there is a first time for everything. Let's hope not. I mean, really. It has been said in all truthfulness that there is nothing new under the sun. But the fun thing is that some things which are new to us as individuals can be a blessing, exhilarating, exciting, or a number of other good things. (No sense in mentioning the other side of the new not-so-great events.)
So one of those firsts for me is a review of The Famous One along with an interview here: http://www.wovenbywords.blogspot.com/. Thank you, Mimi. Very cool.
And one of the other things which is so appreciated about this particular first is that I only knew this lady via the bookshelf website known as Shelfari where people put together all the books they've read or want to read or variations of all things books. So, it was kind of scary and a little risky to offer the book to her knowing that we had some novels in common but certainly not all. Our tastes definitely had their differences.
Another neat thing about this opportunity is that I made a reference to Mimi in a previous post here because she is a self-described "reader", not a person who critiques books from a loftier level than enjoyment. So to be able to provide a person who reads for pleasure and hopefully to find a meaningful experience with just those objectives is a blessing I have prayed for. To touch a heart. Thank you, Jesus. Could not have done it without you.
Also on a related note, a very special friend who I have known for many years--we originally met on the racetrack--called from Kansas where she now lives with her family to tell me how much she loved The Famous One. Told me I was a different kind of writer, definitely not "fluff". (Too true.) Said she shed some tears which is a common theme for those who've read this book. When I asked her what she liked best about the story, her answer surprised me. I hadn't thought of that specific take on it. So awesome how the Lord amplifies things.
God, you are so good to me. I thank you and thank you, but it's never enough. You are so gracious to me. I love you, Lord. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
*Please remember to pray for Kristy Dykes.*
(Hope this doesn't sound like I'm blowing my own horn too loudly. I really do.)
