Or "of" reviews. Tomorrow I will preview the anthology from teen writer Brayden Hirsch titled Shadow Catalyst. I won't tell you much about the stories themselves, but I will tell you Brayden knows how to keep the pages turning.
Friday I will review The Opposite of Art by Athol Dickson.
And of course Monday I reviewed The Queen by Steven James.
Sometimes it's a pleasure to share my opinions of books, and sometimes it's not. I take the experience of reading novels seriously. I think the value in a good book is incalculable because some authors write to provide experiences along with entertainment. When you add the spiritual dimension to storytelling, the possibility for true enrichment looms large.
We all use different criteria to determine what and who we like to read. For me, when the spiritual/faith element is slim or absent, I usually find the story lacking. However, when I find an unrealistic and/or a predictable portrayal of the spiritual elements in a story, the experience generally drops to an unsatisfactory level.
All three of this week's books were a pleasure to read in very different ways. Hope you enjoy this week in or of reviews and a preview.
Lord, thank you for the beauty and experience of stories. You are the creator of all art. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
