Many people don't understand the human condition. From a good sermon I heard: "You're not a sinner because you sin. You sin because you're a sinner." ( Quoted by Eddie Williams). Characters in stories must have more than a physical and emotional makeup to be complete. Readers might not consciously notice that spiritual characteristics are absent from their protagonists, but chances are those things that show up in the antagonist might be labeled "evil" depending on the genre in which they're participating. Evil activity is a condition of the spiritual. This spiritual condition produces bad actions.
It doesn't take Christian Fiction to produce these triune characters. Those authors who write general market or secular novels often write complete characters without recognizing or believing the spiritual definitions that most Christian writers are governed by. Similarly, some Christian authors who write for CBA publishers don't include the spiritual factor in their characters, leaving a vacuum and making them two-dimensional instead of fully developed characters.
Whether or not the spiritual factor is blatant or introverted, characters that reach their full potential will be triune characters.
Father, I want to reach my full potential in the Spirit, at least as much as I can in this temporary home. Help me to do so. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
